Requirements for Georgia Teacher Certification?
All teachers teaching Georgia must pass a state approved course to gain certification. There are two basic types of certifications you can receive, the first being a nonrenewable certification. This certification allows teacher to teach in the classroom with certain prerequisites already fulfilled as are preparing to become a fully certified teacher. Once they have done this the second type of certification is a renewable certification that teachers must have to teach in Georgia. This renewable certification is valid for five years and must be renewed to continue be a teacher in the state of Georgia. Substitute teachers are not required to be certified but must have passed the Praxis I and II tests in their chosen field to substitute teach the state of Georgia.
